Funding Application
Finally, the marsh on the south side of Dr. Kay Drive is owned by the Township of King, and a report has to be taked to council supporting the application for Trillium funding. The application should be finalised this week and submitted. We hope to hear back by the end of the year.

As you probably remember, the application is for monies to undertake enhancement works on two ponds on the south side of the wetland, and to hire a part time straff member to fundraise, organise community work on the marsh and write an education and reserach plan.

This is a very exciting time as we begin the restoration phase of our mandate.

One Step Forward and...
You are probably wondering what happened to the plantings along Dr. Kay Drive between the sidewalk and the road on the south side. It appears that the shrubs were cut down by a contractor working for Mason Homes, the developer to the south, in an attempt to find an electrical cable route.

No approvals had been recieved from the Township, so the contractor will be required to replant the area.

Unfortunately, this puts our planting efforts back two seasons, as we will have to wait until spring to deternine how the area will be replanted. In the meantime, we are investigating signage that will explain that the area is a natrualisation planting to provide a buffer between the road and the wetland, and that it is not to be cut.

Fall Activities
Work Day
Weather permitting, we have scheduled a workday on November 9th to add mulch to the remaining trees and shrubs along Dr. Kay Drive. Most of the plants have done very well despite the dry and hot weather these last two summers; but they need more mulch to help retaing moisture and heep back the wildflowers. More details will be available on this event soon. Hope you can help.

Annual General Meeting
On Saturday November 9th, we will also be holding our Annual General Meeting. If you are interested in running for an executive position, please call Mary at 905-939-7544.

A potluck lunch will be served. We try to make this a fun social event so I hope you can make it.

Watch for more details.
